LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (3-7-1) dropped a double-overtime thriller this afternoon at Hubert Jack Stadium to visiting Millersville University (3-10) 3-2.
Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead in the hard-fought battle off a goal by Arielle Gordon (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata), who knocked home a ball from two yards out.
Gordon’s goal came in the 22nd minute and was assisted by Alissa Gamelier (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley).
MU leveled the match at 1-1 in the 27th minute of play.
In the 55th minute, Gordon returned the favor to Gamelier, who headed home a shot to put The Haven up 2-1.
In the 84th minute, Millersville again tied the match and sent the contest into extra time.
Alison Silva scored in the 106th minute to give Millersville the thrilling OT victory.
Lock Haven goalkeeper Haley Zinn (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) made five saves in 105 plus minutes of action.
Caitlyn Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./UMBC) led Lock Haven defensively, turning an all-around solid performance.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Monday, October 12 at 1:30 p.m. when they travel to Lake Erie College for non-conference action.
