SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (12-3, 3-0 NEC) extended its win streak to nine matches, as the Lady Eagles improved to 3-0 in Northeast Conference (NEC) action after dropping Bryant (4-8, 1-2 NEC) 2-0 today.
The Haven handed Bryant its first home-loss on the year as Lock Haven improved to 39-2 all-time in conference play.
The win marked the 27th straight over a NEC opponent for The Haven.
Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights), Lock Haven’s leading scorer on the year continued her torrid pace and scored a goal in each half to lead LHU offensively.
Hordendorf’s first goal of the match came just 7:37 in.
Lock Haven led 1-0 after the opening 35 minutes of play.
Hordendorf wasn’t done and scored in the 39th minute off an assist from Alanna Lewis (Trinidad & Tobago/Southeast Port-of-Spain).
LHU goalkeeper Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) needed to make only once save in the match.
The shutout marked the fifth straight for LHU and Terreson.
It was the sixth shutout on the year for Lock Haven.
LHU outshot their hosts 16-6 today and held a 9-4 advantage in penalty corners.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Friday, October 16 at 4 p.m. when they play host to Robert Morris in NEC action.
