Lady Eagles soar past Robert Morris 6-0, improve to 4-0 in NEC play
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Despite cold and wet conditions, the Lock Haven University field hockey team (13-3, 4-0 NEC) remained perfect in Northeast Conference (NEC) play, as the Lady Eagles soared past Robert Morris (2-10, 1-4 NEC) 6-0 today on Charlotte E. Smith Field.

With the win, Lock Haven extends its unbeaten streak to 10 matches and the Lady Eagles have now won 28 straight NEC matches.

Lock Haven is now 40-2 all-time in NEC play.

The Lady Eagles got three goals in each half and were led by Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land), who scored two goals and assisted on two others for the six-point outing.

Casey Hughes (Schwenksville, Pa./Souderton) opened the scoring just 8:29 in when she blasted home a penalty corner.

Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) scored her team-leading 19th goal of the season in the 27th minute to make it 2-0.

With less than five minutes to go in the opening half, Carly Fry (Newville, Pa./Big Spring) tallied her first goal of the season to put LHU up 3-0.

Hobart scored the first of her two goals in the 53rd minute.

Hughes notched her second of the game 3:01 later to put Lock Haven well on the way to victory, leading 5-0.

With less than 10 minutes to go in regulation Hobart added her second of the match.

Erin Terreeson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and Lindsay Staufenburg (Norristown, Pa./Norristown Area) combined for shutout.

Staufenburg needed to make just one stop and was on the spot to do so.

LHU outshot RMU 36-1 and held an 18-0 advantage in penalty corners.

The Lady Eagles are back in action Sunday, October 18 at 2 p.m. when they play host to St. Francis (Pa.) in NEC action.
