LHU Cross Country

Men’s & Women’s Cross Country teams turn in solid performances
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams both turned in very solid performances today as Lock Haven hosted the Penn State Nationals, which were moved to The Haven’s course following inclement weather in the State College, Pa. area.

The Bald Eagles placed fourth overall and the Lady Eagles took 13th in a loaded field of several of the nation’s top Division I programs.

Both The Haven men and women were the top teams from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

The Haven men, ranked 16th nationally were fourth overall with 94 points.

Leading the way for LHU was Nick Hilton (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township), who took fifth overall and was the third collegiate finisher. He covered the 8K course in a very solid 25:14.

A.J. Johnson (Coventry, R.I./ Coventry) was 10th with a time of 25:36 and Mitch Miller (Morrisville, N.Y./Morrisville-Eaton) was 21st in 25:53.

Mike Garraway (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and Nathan Zondlo (Avoca, Pa./Pittston Area) rounded out The Haven’s top-five.

The Lady Eagles, ranked sixth in the Atlantic Region took 13th overall in a very deep and talented field.

Just like The Haven men, the Lock Haven women were the top PSAC school and the Lady Eagles downed Slippery Rock, ranked No. 2 in the region and 18th nationally.

Leading the way for Lock Haven was Lindsey Lambert (Howell, N.J./Howell), who placed 32nd overall. Lambert covered the 6K course in 21:57.

Rookie Lindsay Topper (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) was the Lady Eagles second runner. She placed 72nd overall with a time of 22:58.

Theresa Gould (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham), Alexis Patrick (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and Courtney Whitmoyer (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) rounded out Lock Haven’s top-five runners.

Lock Haven graduate Ryan Blood, a former Bald Eagles standout ran unattached and took home first-place honors in the men’s race with a time of 24:58

Both teams are back in action on Saturday, October 24 when they travel to the Elizabeth Invitational.
