LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (24-4) continued to roll today, as the Lady Eagles wrapped up competition at the 2009 Bob Chu Invitational with wins over Seton Hill and American International.
Lock Haven took down Seton Hill 3-0 (25-15, 25-10 & 25-16) before downing American Int. 3-0 (27-25, 25-22 & 25-23).
The two wins today extend Lock Haven’s unbeaten streak to 16 matches.
In the win over Seton Hill, Xuan Gao (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) led the way with a team-high 14 kills. The rookie hit a sizzling .521.
Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Austrailia/Gladstone) added 11 kills and Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) added eight.
Naumann added 19 digs, while Gribler tallied 15.
Gribler also had three aces.
Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguary/Consejo de E.S.) was sensational with a match-high 39 assists.
Christina Laury (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led Lock Haven with 32 digs.
In the tightly contested American International match, Lock Haven got another tremendous effort from Xuan, who had 13 kills.
Xuan was nearly unstoppable and hit a scorching .454.
Gribler added 12 kills and Nuamman tacked on 11, as the duo turned it up again for the Lady Eagles.
Laury was solid as well with 32 digs and Gomez was again the director on offense with 41 assists.
Kim Windstein (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) was huge for LHU with three solo blocks and four block assists.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday, October 23 at 7 p.m. at Kutztown.
