LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (5-9-2) fell to No. 14 Wilmington (Del.) University (15-2) 2-0 today at home in non-conference action.
The Bald Eagles took control of the match from the opening whistle and dominated much of the early going.
Lock Haven’s Greg Shertzer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and Colin Callaghan (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) created several solid opportunities up top for the Bald Eagles early, but neither could put one home.
Wilmington went up 1-0 just 28 minutes into the match and it was 2-0 with less than two minutes to play in the opening half.
The Wildcats led 2-0 after the opening 45 minutes of play and neither team found the back of the net in the second half, despite several solid chances from both sides.
Chad Badorf (Lancaster, Pa./ Manheim Township) and Chris Custer (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) split time in goal with each playing a half. Custer made one save in the second half of play.
The Bald Eagles outshot WU 15-7 and held a 7-3 advantage in corners.
Lock Haven is back in action on Saturday, October 24 at 3 p.m. when rival California (Pa.) University comes to town.
