LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Mary Keister (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) converted a penalty stroke in 62nd minute, which proved to be the eventual game-winner, as the Lock Haven University field hockey team (15-3, 6-0 NEC) downed visiting Sacred Heart (2-14, 1-4 NEC) 3-1 this afternoon.

Keister’s goal at the 61:47 mark broke up a tied game and gave Lock Haven the 2-1 lead.

The win marked the 12th straight for Lock Haven, who improved to a sensational 15-3 overall. LHU also remains perfect in NEC play with a 6-0 mark.

The win extended The Haven’s NEC win streak to 30 matches, as the Lady Eagles are now 42-2 all-time vs. conference opponents.

LHU went up 1-0 in the 23rd minute after Alanna Lewis (Trinidad & Tobago/Southeast Port-of-Spain) ripped a penalty corner shot to the lower left corner, beating SH goalie Kim Stow.

Sacred Heart put forth a tremendous effort all game and tied things in the 38th minute of play.

At halftime both teams were still deadlocked at 1-1.

Keister’s goal in the 62nd minute put Lock Haven back on top, leading 2-1 and with just 23 seconds left in the match Casey Hughes (Schwenksville, Pa./Souderton) iced it when she knocked home a penalty corner shot.

LHU goalkeeper Erin Terreeson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made two saves in the win.

Amanda Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) led Lock Haven’s defensive effort and made one sensational defensive save late in the second half of play.
