Volleyball downs Kutztown 3-2 on the road, extends win streak to 17 matches

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (25-4, 13-2 PSAC) took down Kutztown University (11-10, 4-9 PSAC) 3-2 (15-25, 27-29, 25-18, 25-22 & 15-11) tonight on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action, as the Lady Eagles extended their win streak to 17 matches.

LHU head coach Tom Justice could say enough positive things following tonight’s match, as the Lady Eagles dug themselves out of a 0-2 hole to come back an earn an incredibly hard-fought road match.

Justice noted that his squad was a bit thin tonight and it forced him to put some players in unfamiliar positions.

His Lady Eagles responded in a big way, showing their true character in the big win.

Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Austrailia/Gladstone) and Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) led Lock Haven offensively. Naumann had 18 kills and Gribler added 13.

Naumann also had 15 digs, while Gribler added two block assists.

Xuan Gao (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) filled in for Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguary/Consejo de E.S.) at the setter spot and was very solid for Lock Haven.

Christina Laury (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) recorded a team-high 30 digs and Xuan added 21.

Kim Windstein (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) added six kills and two block assists.

Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa) played the last three games of the match and hit .750 with three kills.

Arlana Roland (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) had five kills and three solo blocks.

The Lady Eagles are right back at it tomorrow when they travel to West Chester for a noon match.
