LHU Soccer - Men

Men’s Soccer closes out 2009 season with 3-0 win over Alderson Broaddus

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (7-10-2) was dominant in its 2009 season finale, as the Bald Eagles shutout visiting Alderson Broaddus (5-11) 3-0.

Freshman David Qaisi (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) put Lock Haven up just 9:28 in after he tucked home a perfect pass back across the middle from Kevin Wolfe (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township), who had made a fantastic run down the right side of the field.

Senior Colin Callaghan (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) made his last game at Hubert Jack Stadium a special one, when he put LHU up 2-0 in the 38th minute.

Rookie Steve Kretzer (Warfordsburg, Pa./Smithsburg) set up Callaghan’s strike.

Lock Haven took the 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the 58th minute, Kretzer was at it again and set up Adam Scheibeler (Montoursville, Pa./Elizabethtown College), who made it 3-0, as the Bald Eagles dominated the match from the opening whistle.

The Bald Eagles got a tremendous defensive effort from their other two seniors in Lyndell Pompey (South Oropouche, Trinidad & Tobago/Wheeling Jesuit) and Andrew Clemens (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), who both cap off sensational LHU careers.

Lock Haven finished the year with two straight wins and went 7-10-2 overall. The Haven went 1-7 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
