LHU Soccer - Men

Huckett’s Two-Goal Performance Powers LHU Past Millersville, Bald Eagles Win 3-2 in Double OT

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (7-2, 6-1 PSAC) needed extra time to top Millersville University (4-3-1, 3-3-1 PSAC), but the Bald Eagles did just that thanks in large part to junior Paul Huckett’s (Grimsby, England/Grimsby College) two-goal performance on the road today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

Huckett played the hero's role by scoring the game tying and the overtime winner to lift the Bald Eagles 3-2 on the road.

Senior Ashley Rosindale (Bradford, England/Beckfoot School) scored the first goal of the game for the Bald Eagles putting them up 1-0 in the 22nd minute of the first half. Rosindale’s game-opening tally came off an assist by Huckett who turned in a five-point showing.

Millersville would tie the game at 1-1 and that’s how the first 45 minutes of play would end.

Lock Haven quickly took control to start the second half, but the Bald Eagles were unable to finish before Millersville added their second goal of the game taking the 2-1 lead.

With less than 10 minutes to play a speedy Doug Moran (Butler, Pa./Butler) found Huckett to tie the game at 2-2.

In overtime it was deja vu as Moran once again out ran the Millersville defense and found an open Huckett, who chipped a shot past the goalie for the game-winner in the 105th minute of play.

Billy Trimble (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) made three saves in the match for the Haven.

The Bald Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. when they travel to East Stroudsburg University. The LHU-ESU match up will be a rematch of last year’s PSAC title game and NCAA Division II Northeast Region Semifinal.
