EDINBORO, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team (4-6-1, 1-3-1 PSAC West) fell to Edinboro University (4-2-2, 3-1-1 PSAC West) 5-1 on the road today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
The Lady Eagles found themselves trailing early after Edinboro scored first, but the Haven answered in the 10th minute tying the match at 1-1.
Senior forward Colleen Kafka (Candor, N.Y./Candor) netted her team-leading eighth goal of the year off an assist from rookie Arielle Gordon (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata).
Gordon challenged the Edinboro goalkeeper for a ball and was able to head it back to Kafka, who finished it off from inside the 18.
With six minutes to go in the first half Edinboro scored their second goal, putting the Fighting Scots up 2-1 and thats how the first half of action would end. Edinboro went on to score three second half goals to take the 5-1 decision at home.
Senior Emily Wagner (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) played all 90 minutes in net and made seven saves, putting her just 17 away from becoming LHU’s all-time career saves leader.
The Lady Eagles are back in action when they travel to East Stroudsburg University on Saturday, Sept. 22 with the kick off set for noon.
