LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Chris Robson (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land), (LHU, ’07) former member of the Lock Haven University men’s cross country and track and field teams was recently named NCAA Division II Male Regional Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
With the award Robson becomes one of eight finalists eligible for NCAA Division II Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.
This is just one more prestigious honor for Robson, who wrapped up a memorable career in crimson and white this past spring. He graduated in May with a 3.86 grade point average.
He is currently taking classes at the University of Delaware where is pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy at Delaware.
Robson was awarded a NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship. The NCAA awarded 58 student-athletes with a $7,500 post-graduate scholarship including 29 males and 29 females.
Robson was one of three males from Division II to earn this prestigious honor and the first ever Haven athlete to earn this distinction.
He was also named the 2006-07 Pete Nevins Male Scholar Athlete of the Year by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) for his sensational year on the course, track and in the classroom.
The distance specialist earned All-America honors this past season after finishing eighth in the steeplechase at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
He posted the league’s fastest time at the PSAC Championships as he successfully defended his steeplechase title with a time of 9:03.28.
The championship time was also good for a LHU school record. Robson also played a vital role in Lock Haven’s indoor and cross-country league crowns.
Robson also made the Top 10 during the 2006 cross country season. He was an All-PSAC performer after a 16th place finish at the PSAC Championships helping Lock Haven earn the team title.
Robson finished 27th at the NCAA Division II East Region meet helping to guide the Bald Eagles to another team championship.
He was been a key member of the a Bald Eagle squad that has won four consecutive PSAC cross country championships and three out of the last four NCAA East Region crowns.
