Bald Eagles Fall to Edinboro in PSAC West Action
 

DiPaolo had two touchdown passes today, he was 17-for-30 with 186 yards passing

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Lock Haven University football team (0-6, 0-1 PSAC West) fell on the road at Edinboro University (5-1, 2-0 PSAC West) 70-19 today in the Bald Eagles 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West opener.

Junior wide receiver Damar Dowell Jr. (Buffalo, N.Y./Erie C.C.) led the Haven while pulling in two touchdown catches in the loss. Dowell scored on pass plays of 30 yards and one yard today as he made a total of eight catches for 186 yards.

The Bald Eagles found themselves trailing early, but down 21-0 Dowell pulled in the first of his two touchdowns. Dowell caught a 30-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Ilio DiPaolo (Orchard Park, N.Y./St. Francis) The extra point attempt was blocked as the Fighting Scots led 21-6.

With 8:21 left in the third quarter Dowell and DiPaolo hooked up for the second time.

This time Dowell pulled in a one yard pass from DiPaolo, cutting the Edinboro lead to 42-12 as the Haven’s two-point conversion attempt failed.

Trailing 63-12 in the fourth quarter Steve Loomis (Oxford, N.Y./Oxford Academy) scored on a six-yard run.

It was the first touchdown of Loomis’s career while the Dowell’s two touchdowns also marked the first and second of his Bald Eagle career.

Dean Tortorice (Delmont, Pa./Franklin Regional) and Corey Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) led the Bald Eagles with seven tackles apiece. Tortorice had four solo and three assisted tackles while Gildea recorded one and six, respectively.

Darryl Robinson (Pittsburgh/McKeesport) and Shawn Crebs (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) both had six tackles.

The Bald Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. when they return home to take on No. 11 California (Pa.) University in PSAC West action. The game will be televised statewide by SPORTSfever television.
