Getting to Know: Cory Spidell

Cory Spidell

As we continue our athlete features our next subject is Cross Country Runner Cory Spidell.

Cory is moving through his senior year as a Bald Eagle, and it’s been a successful one to this point. Last season saw Spidell bring home top ten finishes at the Bison Invitational (eighth) Maroon and Gold Invitational (fifth) and the Elizabethtown Invitational (fourth). His fifth place finish at Kutztown’s Maroon and Gold Invite was the third season in a row that he came home with a top ten finish from the meet. During his high school days at Marion Center, Cory was named to the All-State squad twice and all Heritage Conference four times. While not on the cross country course or track, Spidell also was a state qualifier and record holder in swimming. A Home, Pa. native, Spidell is the son of Gary and Connie Spidell and majors in Sports Administration

1. What is the one thing in your life you cannot live with out?

- Jesus Christ.

2. If you were stranded on an island and could only eat one meal, listen to one song, and be with one person; what would you eat, what would you listen to and who would you bring?

- I would eat hamloaf and potatoes, with Michael Jordan while listening to Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley.

3. As a cross country runner, is there any one runner you modeled yourself after?

- Steve Prefontaine.

4. What’s your favorite thing about running at Lock Haven?

- I love the fact that we always run as a team versus as individuals.

5. Where’s the toughest place you’ve ran?

- The Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University is probably the highest caliber meet, but Slippery Rock has the toughest course.

6. What’s your favorite movie and why?

- Double Jeopardy. It’s a really well written movie and is very suspenseful.

7. What’s your major and why are you interested in it?

- Sports Administration is my major and I am interested in it because I hope to work in the sports field someday.

8. What made you choose Lock Haven over the other schools that were recruiting you?

- I chose Lock Haven because it has a solid running program.

9. Who were your sports idols as a kid?

- David Robinson, because he was an incredible player and a classy guy off the court as well.
