LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams were both in action today as they hosted 2007 NCAA Division II East Region Championships on the Haven’s West Branch Cross Country Course.
The Bald Eagles finished in third and the Lady Eagles were 11th after both teams turned in solid performances.
The men’s side was led by two All-Region performers in the forms of Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) and Brandon Pomerantz (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North).
Junior Shala Simms (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) was the story for the Lady Eagles as she turned in a tremendous performance taking eight overall. She covered the 6K course in 20:03.
Yeatts led the way for the Bald Eagles placing 12th with a time of 31:54 on the 10K course.
Pomerantz picked up the last all-region spot, placing 15th with a time of 32:00.
Simms is the first Lady Eagle to earn all-region honors since Jana Kauffman took 10th in 2001.
LHU head coach Aaron Russell was very pleased with both teams today as both left it all on the course.
