Lady Eagles go 1-1 in the pool
 

Freshman Amanda Terray won both the 100 and 200 backstroke events today.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University swim team (3-2, 3-2 PSAC) went 1-1 today as the hosted both California (Pa.) University and Slippery Rock University in Zimmerli Pool.

The Lady Eagles topped Slippery Rock 65-57 and lost to California 69-51.

Freshman Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) took first place in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events. She won the 100 with a time of 59.83, a NCAA “B” cut time and swam 2:11.48 to win the 200 backstroke.

Stephanie Kudrick (Coudersport, Pa./Coudersport) had a strong day for LHU as the junior won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

In all, six Lady Eagles recorded season-best times today including Shannon Wilbur (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) 100 freestyle, 59.78, Ashley Lightcap (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) 200 freestyle, 2:08.46, Shannon Samanka (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) 1650 freestyle, 19:51.66, Becky Fountaine (Wantage, N.J./High Point)1650 freestyle, 21:00.28, Ashley Gardner (Smyrna, Del./Dover) 50 back lead-off on relay , 32.29, Amanda Palmer (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) 200 breaststroke, 2:47.11.

Samanka’s time is also an LHU all-time top five performance, ranking her fifth-best in the 1650 freestyle (19:51.66).

The Lady Eagles are back in action next weekend at the California Invite.
