CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swimming team (4-2, 4-2 PSAC) went 2-1 at the 2008 Vulcan Dual Meet Classic hosted by California (Pa.) University.
Last night the Lady Eagles topped Mansfield University 65-63 and split their dual meets today with Millersville University and host California.
LHU beat Millersville 75-64, but fell to California 119-26.
Based on full competition the Haven placed third overall.
There were several highlights for the Haven over the two-day span according to LHU head coach Andy Waeger, who said the Mansfield dual was an exciting one with the action going back-and-fourth until the very end.
In the last event freshman Brittany Williams (North East, Pa./North East) continued to prove she can be a big-meet swimmer out touching the competition by .03 seconds giving the Lady Eagles the win.
Against Mansfield the Haven also went 1-2 in the 200 Butterfly with sophomores Ashley Lightcap (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) and Amanda Palmer (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East), respectively earning the top spots for LHU.
In the Millersville dual Palmer came from behind to win the 400 IM and rookie sensation Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) took home first in the 200 backstroke.
The Lady Eagles competed well against California in the events final dual.
LHU returns to action on Friday, Feb 1 at 6 p.m. in the Carnegie Mellon Women's Invitational.
