EDINBORO, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s swim team (5-3, 5-3 PSAC) turned some solid performances over the last two days as the Lady Eagles prepare for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championships.

LHU head coach Andy Waeger was very pleased with his team as it competed yesterday at Carnegie Mellon and today at Edinboro University in preparation for the upcoming conference championships.

Overall the meets proved to be a fine tune-up for Waeger’s squad.

Last night Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) took first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.52, just missing the Carnegie Mellon pool record.

In the same event Ashley Gardner (Smyrna, Del./Dover) dropped over two second on her season best recording a time of 1:05.22.

In the 200 butterfly Amanda Palmer (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) bettered her PSAC qualifying mark (2:19.93).

Ashley Lightcap (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) also swam the 200 butterfly recording a season best 2:21.37.

Palmer also turned in a strong effort in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:00.70.

Gardner hit a season-best mark in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:19.58.

Becky Fountaine (Wantage, N.Y./High Point) smashed her lifetime best in the 500 free with a time of 5:47.34.

Competing today at Edinboro both Shannon Wilbur (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and Brittany Williams (North East, Pa./North East) turned in solid outings.

Wilbur just missed her lifetime-best in the 100 freestyle (59.8) while Williams smashed her lifetime-best in the same event recording a 57.31.

The Lady Eagles hit the pool again for the PSAC championships which are slated to begin on Thursday, Feb. 21. Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, Pa. is the host of the 2008 championships.
