LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lock Haven University’s men’s basketball squad (2-22, 2-8 PSAC West) ended their home hoops season on a sour note as they fell to visiting Clarion University (14-10, 6-4 PSAC West) 81-58 on senior night in Thomas Fieldhouse.
LHU would get the game as close as 14 a piece with 14:05 to play in the first half, but could never establish the lead as they dropped the season series to the Golden Eagles.
Lock Haven would keep it close throughout, but a Clarion 18-7 spurt to open the first seven plus minutes of the second half proved to be the difference maker as the Bald Eagle’s eventually fell by an 81-58 score.
Junior sensation Billy Arre (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) led the way as he scored a game high 22 points for the Bald Eagles as he’s now just five points from moving into sole possession of third place on The Haven’s all-time scoring charts.
On the glass the Bald Eagles were led by Arre and Kelvin McLean (Newport News, Va./Heritage) who each pulled in four boards.
Clarion was lead on the evening by Ricky Henderson, who pulled in the double-double with 16 points and a game high 12 rebounds for the victors.
LHU was outrebounded by the Golden Eagles 43-22.
Prior to the contest seniors Denny Mortimer (Silver Spring, Md./Mansfield University) and Jeff Eveillard (New Rochelle, N.Y./Broome C.C.) were recognized for their accomplishments as Bald Eagle ballers as they played for the final time in front of the Thomas Fieldhouse crowd.
Lock Haven is next in action as they make the long trip to Edinboro on Saturday, February 23, to take on the Fighting Scots. Tip time from McComb Fieldhouse is slated for 3 p.m.
