Women’s soccer earns NSCAA Ethics Award

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s soccer team recently received a 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) College Team Ethics Award.

The Lady Eagles received the Silver level ethics award for their sportsmanship shown on the field during the 2007 season.

This year’s honor marks the second consecutive season the Haven women have earned this distinction.

"I am pleased that our team has been recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship over the 2007 season,” said LHU head coach Heather Davis. “It demonstrates that you can play to win and still play fair at the same time."

Fifty-nine teams received either the Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the Team Ethics Award, which recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the Laws of the Game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.

The Lady Eagles finished the season with an 8-10-1 overall and a 3-6-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West record.

Six Lady Eagles earned All-PSAC honors including senior defender Lynnette Reitz (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) who earned a spot on the First Team.
