FT. MYERS, Fla. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (3-5) lost their first two games in Florida today to Stonehill College.
The Bald Eagles are in Ft. Myers, Fla. playing in the 16th Annual Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
Lock Haven fell 10-4 in game one today and dropped game two 4-2.
In today’s first game Stonehill scored their 10 runs on seven hits.
Sophomore Josh Rote (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) pitched 5-1/3 innings for the Haven. He recorded three strikeouts and allowed two walks.
Junior Matt Palko (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) was 1-for-3, but his one hit was a big one, as he drilled a two-run homer.
Rookie Dean Pettinato (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
In game two the Bald Eagles fell 4-2.
LHU posted their two runs on five hits.
Sophomore Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) was 1-for-3 with a homerun and junior Zach Schuler (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Spring Grove) was 1-for-2 with a double.
Freshman Jordan Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntington) pitched all six innings for LHU and struck out four.
The Bald Eagles are back in action tomorrow at noon when they take on Rockhurst University as part of the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
