FT MYERS, Fla. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (3-8) lost to Ashland University 7-2 today in a nine inning game in Florida.
The Bald Eagles got the bats going, but couldn’t generate enough run support to top Ashland.
Lock Haven’s two runs came off 11 hits, as the Bald Eagles left a lot of runners on base.
Ashland’s seven runs came by way of 15 hits.
Sophomore Bobby Fiala (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Everglades) started on the mound for LHU and worked 4-2/3 innings. He gave up four runs on eight hits, struck out three and walked five.
Rookie David Masteller (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) saw action in three innings, giving up seven hits and picking one strikeout.
Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley), Nick Harner (Dauphin, Pa./Chowan College) and Tim Bremen (Effort, Pa./Sussex County C.C.) all had a multiple hit game as each went 2-4 at the plate.
The Bald Eagles are back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic when they take on the University of Charleston.
