NEW YORK – Ryan Blood (Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro) of the Lock Haven University men’s track and field team finished 22nd overall, after running unattached at the USA Men’s 8K Championships in Central Park.
The race, which was held on a very challenging course in Central Park, serves as the 8K national championships.
He finished 22nd out of 41 runners in a very talented and deep field.
Ranked 49th of 50 going into the race, Blood certainly stepped it up big time today.
Blood, who has outdoor track eligibility left ran a very solid 23:44 and was just 12 second behind Alan Webb, the American record holder in the mile.
LHU co-head track and field coach Aaron Russell couldn’t have been more pleased with Blood’s performance today.
“I’m very proud of him, this is just about as big as gets competition wise,” Russell said. “It says a lot about what we can expect from him in the spring as it’s an outstanding indication of the shape he’s in.”
Blood, who is looking to cap off an already stellar career this spring is back in action when the Bald Eagles hit the outdoor oval.
