LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The No. 6 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (3-1, 2-0 PSAC) was clicking on all cylinders today as the Lady Eagles soared past visiting East Stroudsburg University (5-1, 4-1 PSAC) 23-6 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
The Haven was strong in all facets of its game today, but the offense really came alive on Charlotte Smith field as LHU scored a season-high 23 goals.
Leading the way for LHU was sophomore Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville), who scored a game-high five goals.
Junior Jessica Blickenstaff (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) wasn’t far off that pace as she netted four goals to go along with one assist.
The Lady Eagles wasted little time in getting on the board as Amber Hoch (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) scored just over a minute in, off an assist from freshman Kathleen Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia).
Less than 10 minutes into the contest it was 8-0 LHU and 15-4 at halftime as Lock Haven’s offense was firing from all angles today.
The Haven’s defensive effort was equally strong today as they combined to limit ESU to only a handful of legitimate scoring opportunities dominating the visitors from the opening whistle.
Senior Caitlyn Watts (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) was all over the place for LHU controlling the flow of the game from midfield. She had a game-high six points on the day as she scored twice and set up four other Haven tallies.
Kair Sielski (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Hoch both had hat tricks.
Zichelli finished with a three-point game after scoring one goal to go along with two helpers.
Jamie Uzialko (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) and Rachael Williams (Gettysburg, Pa./Catoctin) each scored twice. Uzialko also had two assists for the four point afternoon.
Sandy Drobnich (Morrisville, Pa./Pennsburg) netted the first goal of her career as well today.
Goalie Kira Nuttall (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) made 10 saves in net for LHU.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, March 25 at 4 p.m. when they travel to take on arch rival West Chester University, the nation’s third-ranked team.
