CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (9-15, 0-2 PSAC West) dropped both games of a doubleheader today at California (Pa.) University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Division opener for both teams.
The Bald Eagles fell 6-4 in game one and dropped game two 6-5.
Senior Pat Young (Allensville, Pa./Indian Valley) took the mound in game after getting the starting nod for the Haven.
Young took the loss after a solid 5-1/3 innings of action. He gave up eight hits and six runs. He allowed only three walks and struck out six.
LHU’s four runs came off four hits.
In game two LHU scored their five runs off eight hits.
Sophomore pitcher Josh Rote (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) worked a strong 5-1/3 innings of action. He gave up five runs on nine hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
Teddy Stake (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley), James Zimmerman (Woodland, Pa./Clearfield Area) and Brain Kochik (Snow Shoe, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) all went 2-for-3 at the plate in game two. Zimmerman and Kochik also each recorded a pair of RBI.
The Bald Eagles are back in action tomorrow at home against this same Cal team. The PSAC West twin bill is set for noon.
