Football holds scrimmage, Crimson defeats White 32-20

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Following up on the kick off of spring practice on April 16, the Lock Haven football team held an inter-squad scrimmage today at the legendary McCullum Field.

The Crimson team defeated the White squad by a 32-20 score, in a contest that according to Head Coach John Klacik was “much closer that the score indictates.”

Some performances of note include defensive end Josh Moran’s (Narvon, Pa./Pequa Valley) interception and tackle for a loss as well as receiver Devin Sims’ (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) three catches for 48 yards.

Klacik and his staff were pleased with the performance of the players in the backfield as well as Reggie Mencer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and Ibrahim Smith (New Bloomfield, Pa./West Perry) each busted a few runs for the White squad.

“I thought both sides played physical, were we fast on defense and our running backs did a nice job,” said Klacik who will start his fifth season at The Haven in a few short months.

Klacik was also pleased with the work of his offensive line, which allowed Bald Eagle quarterbacks little pocket time last season.

“Our protection was really good all day and one turnover was the difference in this game being a 32-20 game or being a 21-20 game,” said the former Youngstown State offensive guru.

Spring practice continues through April and LHU kicks off the 2008 regular season on Thursday, August 28 as they take on Glenville State.
