STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Senior linebacker Corey Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) was selected as a scholar athlete by the National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame.

The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame held their annual Scholar Athlete recognition and awards banquet at the Penn Stater hotel in State College on Sunday, March 31.

Gildea was one of three Central PA collegiate student-athletes selected to the honorable team, as he joined Tyler Payne from Juniata College and Jason Ganter from Penn State University.

Gildea was given the esteemed honor due to his dynamic mix of classroom work and on the field prowess.

Midway through his junior season, he made the switch to linebacker and was voted a team captain during his senior season.

In the classroom, he has an outstanding 3.3 GPA in Sports Medicine and plans to graduate in May.

Following his undergraduate days at The Haven, he plans to attend graduate school and earn a Masters Degree in Exercise Science and work as an athletic trainer.
