Terray named PSAC Rookie of the Year

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - After a phenomenal freshman season Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) of the Lock Haven University swim team has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Rookie of the Year.

Terray was awarded for her sensational season that made history in many ways.

She became the first woman in Lock Haven history to win a PSAC title, qualify for the NCAA Championships and earn All-America status.

Terray claimed All-PSAC honors in the 100-yard backstroke (57.56) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.27). She took home the championship in the 200 at the conference championship.

At the 2008 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships, Terray earned All-American status in the 100 and 200 back.

She took sixth in the 100 with a school record time of 57.11.

In the 200 back, which had been her bread and butter all season long, Terray finished in a school record time of 2:01.95 placing third overall.

Along with her two school records Terray has two other LHU all-time top five times.

LHU head coach Andy Waeger couldn’t be happier with Terray’s performances throughout the year.

“This is a great way to officially finish up the season for Amanda and our program,” Waeger said. “The PSAC is one of the most competitive conferences in all of D-II swimming and for Amanda to be recognized by the coaches of the PSAC is really something special.”
