LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (11-21, 2-6 PSAC West) dropped three games to Indiana (Pa.) University (25-10, 6-2 PSAC West) today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
IUP was ranked No. 6 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II North Atlantic Regional poll.
With the three losses today the Bald Eagles fall to 11-21 overall and 2-6 in the division.
LHU was on the road at IUP yesterday and took game one of their doubleheader 17-2 as the offense really game alive for the Bald Eagles.
Early action today was a make up for game two of yesterday’s twin bill, which was suspended because of darkness. They only got through 3.5 innings yesterday and IUP eventually won 3-2 today.
IUP took both games today 12-4 and 5-3, as the Crimson Hawks took the weekend series 3-1.
In game one LHU’s four runs came off 11 hits while game two saw LHU score their three runs on five hits.
Freshman Tyler Rumsey (Mansfield, Pa./Mansfield) put fourth an extremely solid complete-game outing in game two today. He gave up just six hits and struck out five.
On the day both Zach Schuler (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Spring Grove) and Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) each had four hits.
Lock Haven returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 8 at 1 p.m. when they play host to East Stroudsburg University.
