LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University baseball team (12-22) split a home doubleheader with East Stroudsburg University (14-19).
The Bald Eagles lost game one 8-4 and won game two 11-5.
In game one Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) was 3-for-4 at the plate in with one run scored.
In game two it was freshman Andrew Simonik (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) picking up the win for the Bald Eagles. He went six innings, allowing five runs on five hits. He walked only three and struck out four.
Evan Petro (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) was 2-for-3 with a RBI and two runs scored while James Zimmermann (Woodland, Pa./Clearfield Area) was 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored in the Haven win.
The Bald Eagles broke it open with six runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Matt Palko (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) and Tim Bremen (Effort, Pa./Sussex County C.C.) added back-to-back homers in the sixth inning to help insure the victory.
The Bald Eagles are back in action on Friday, April 11 at 1 p.m. when they play host to Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
