LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Ryan Blood (Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro) and junior Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) of the Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track and field teams were both honored for their recent efforts in leading the Haven track teams.
For the second week in a row Blood was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week as he continues to make his return to the track felt.
Six days off his school record-setting 10K performance at Stanford, he turned in another sensational performance, this time at 1500 meters.
Blood beat the NCAA Division II Indoor mile runner up by nearly a second and his time of 3:47.20 shattered LHU's school record by three seconds. Not only is his time an NCAA automatic qualifier, but it ranks sixth nationally and is the top non-altitude converted time in the nation this season for Division II.
Lady Eagle junior high jumper Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) was at it again winning the high jump with a season-best jump of 5-08.75.
For her strong effort this past weekend Morse was named PSAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Her mark ties the LHU school record which she set last year at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor National Championships, when she placed second overall.
Her mark this past weekend leads the nation at the D-II level.
Morse also added another strong showing the long jump, placing seventh overall with leap of 17-2.
