CLARION, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (15-29, 5-11 PSAC West) split a doubleheader with Clarion University (9-20, 3-13 PSAC West) on the road today in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.
The Bald Eagles smashed Clarion in game on 18-1, but were edged 3-2 in the second game this afternoon at CU.
In game one the Haven bats were all over Clarion as they racked up 18 runs on 11 hits.
Leading the way at the plate was Evan Petro (Johnstown, Pa./Richland), who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
James Zimmerman (Woodland, Pa./Clearfield Area) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.
Sophomore Bobby Fiala (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Everglades) pitched a complete game two-hitter as he hurled a gem, striking out nine. He gave up just the one run on the two hits. He allowed only two walks.
In game two LHU picked up their two runs on six hits as the bats were much quieter than the opening game of the twinbill.
Mark Strouse (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) went 2-for-3 with a RBI in the loss.
The Bald Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, April 22 at 1 p.m. when they travel to East Stroudsburg for PSAC crossover action.
