#6 Lady Eagles down Bloom 16-13, Blickenstaff nets all-time career goal record

Jessica Blickenstaff etched her name in Lady Eagle lacrosse history, scoring her 203 career goal, which put her a top the all-time list.

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The No. 6 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (13-3, 11-2 PSAC) downed local rival Bloomsburg University (8-8, 9-5 PSAC) 16-13 on the road today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

As it has been the trend all season long, the Lady Eagles were once again led by Jessica Blickenstaff (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin), who scored a game-high six goals in memorable fashion.

Needing only one goal to tie the LHU all-time career goal record of 198 set in 2005 by Lock Haven’s Diana Strizki, Blickenstaff left little doubt and etched her name in the history books with the second of her six goals this afternoon.

With her six goals today, the Maryland native stands a top the record books with 203 career goals.

She added two assists on the day, which runs her career point mark to 302 points, just 11 away from tying the LHU all-time career point mark.

Sophomore Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J.) and senior Caitlyn Watts (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood), both chipped in with three-goal games. Titus also added a game-high three assists.

Other than Blickenstaff, it was the second half of play that was again the story for the Lady Eagles as they trailed the host Huskies 7-6 after the first 30 minutes of play.

Again, LHU went to work in the second and the offense caught fire, outscoring Bloom 10-6.

Kira Nuttall (Towson, Md./Loch Raven), who has seen almost every minute between the pipes this season for the Haven turned in another solid outing. She made 14 saves on the way to the win.

The Lady Eagles close out their 2008 regular season on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. when they travel west to Slippery Rock University for conference action.
