Football Hosts Alumni and Friends Weekend

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – This years’ Lock Haven University spring football weekend underwent some scheduling changes but that didn’t hinder the Bald Eagles from the days of old from coming back to their old stomping grounds to relive old memories and meet up with the current Bald Eagle players.

LHU Football’s Alumni and Friends Weekend didn’t include a spring game this year at Hubert Jack Stadium but instead brought together friends, family, current players and football alumna for a celebration of the Lock Haven football family and provided an opportunity for people outside of the program to feel like a part of the team.

Recruiting coordinator Matt Monty felt the weekend was a great success.

“It was great to see the alumni and we look forward for positive growth with next season in terms of our alumni and their positive effects on the program. We were able to draw in some of the younger and older alum and we always look forward to seeing them,” said Monty.

The annual Robert Perry Memorial Youth Clinic was also a great success as the clinic provided an opportunity for kids from all over the state of Pennsylvania to improve on their skills and be part of the Bald Eagle team for a day.

“We were able to bring kids in from all over the state, it was a great time for them as well as their parents who are mostly program alumni to see their kids getting hands on teaching from the staff,” said Monty about the clinic.

Finally the weekend wrapped up with the Alumni Golf Outing at the Clinton County Country Club. Groups of four players took part in a scramble style tournament that was won by former players David Show, Matt Shealy, Jason Walther and Todd Smoker.

With the school year wrapping up the Bald Eagles will have the summer off and report to camp in August with their first game being played on the brand new turf at Hubert Jack Stadium on August 28 at 7:00 p.m. against Glenville State.
