Five Lady Eagle Laxers earn All-Conference honors
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Five members of the No. 6 Lock Haven University lacrosse team were named to the 2008 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Team.

Three Lady Eagles earned a spot on the First Team while twp Haven women got a nod on the All-PSAC Second Team.

Leading the way on the First Team was junior Jessica Blickenstaff (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin), as she paced the Haven’s potent offensive attack that outscored opponents 319-184.

This marks the third straight year Blickenstaff has earned a spot on the All-PSAC First Team.

Blickenstaff led LHU in every major offensive category including goals, assists and points with 75, 43 and 188, respectively. She also had a team-high five game winning goals.

Over her three year career she has tallied 210 goals and 317 points, which are both LHU records. Blickenstaff’s 107 assists is second best all-time in school history.

This season Blickenstaff scored at least one goal in every game including a season-high seven goals in a win over Millersville. She tallied a season-best 12 points in a win over Shippensburg.

Junior Amber Hoch (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) and sophomore Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville) were also both First Team selections.

Titus scored 72 goals on the year, which was second best on the team. She also dished out 24 assists and recorded 96 total points.

She scored at least one goal in all, but one game this season. She scored nine goals in a game against Millersville early in the season and recorded a season-best 13 points in a win over Bloomsburg University in a PSAC Semifinals.

Her 13-point outing was the best individual scoring performance of any Lady Eagle this season.

Hoch was also an important component of the Haven’s explosive offense. She had 48 goals and 29 helpers.

Hoch’s had two seven-point games and scored one goal in every game, but one. She netted a season-best six goals in a 20-5 win over Shippensburg late in the year.

Senior Caitlyn Watts (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) earned a spot on the PSAC Second Team.

Watts had 27 goals, 26 assists and 53 points. She also had 24 caused turnovers and 61 groundballs.

Watts recorded at least one point in every game on the year and scored a season-best five goals in win over Millersville.

Sophomore goalie Kira Nuttall (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) was also a second team selection after playing almost every minute between the pipes for LHU.

She made 193 saves on the year. Nuttall recorded a 9.90 goals-against-average and .517 save percentage.

On the season Nuttall also caused a team-high 26 turnovers and scooped up 61 ground balls.

She had a season-high 16 saves in win over Pfeiffer in the Lady Eagles season opener. Nuttall made double digit saves in 13 games this year.

The Lady Eagles finished the 2008 season 15-4 overall and 12-2 in the PSAC, advancing to the conference championship game where they fell to No. 1 West Chester University, the 2008 NCAA Division II National Champions.
