Morse takes second in the high jump, Martin claims All-American in the 400 hurdles

WALNUT, Calif. – Two members of the Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track and field team earned All-American honors yesterday on the final day of competition at the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Track & Field Championships at Mt. SAC in Walnut, Calif.

Leading the way was junior higher Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell), the 2008 East Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.

Morse took second on misses in the high for the second year in a row earning her second All-American honor outdoor.

She cleared 5-9.25, marking a LHU school record.

LHU co-head coach Aaron Russell couldn’t have been happier with Morse, who turned in another gutsy performance on the season’s biggest stage.

“I’m very proud of her,” said Russell.

Paul Martin (Pickering, Ontario/Pine Ridge Secondary) led the Bald Eagles earning All-American status in the 400 meter hurdles after a sixth place finish. Martin clocked a 52.31.

Senior Ryan Blood (Summerdale, Pa./Pennsboro), the 2008 East Region Men’s Track Athlete of the Year took 14th in the 10K on Thursday night with a time of 30:55.88.
