KENT, Ohio – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (2-1) downed Pacific University (0-3) 2-1 at Kent State University today using a last minute goal to earn the win.
With the win the Lady Eagles improve to 2-1 on the young season.
Senior Blair Wynne (Trinidad and Tobago/Sangre Grande) scored the first goal of the game, putting LHU up 1-0 in 21st minute of play.
Wynne’s goal was assisted by Suzann Hobart (Lewisberry, Pa./Red Land) and Alanna Lewis (Trinidad and Tobago/Southeast Port of Spain).
Lock Haven took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Pacific drew even in the 47th minute as Kim Keywa found the back of the cage.
With just 35 seconds left on the game clock sophomore Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) struck lifting the Lady Eagles to the victory in the final minute of play.
Hordendorf’s team-high third goal of the season came off an assist from Wynne.
Sophomore goalie Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made five saves in the cage for LHU.
The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow when they take on Kent State at 1 p.m.
