PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (1-3) downed Alderson Broaddus College 1-0 on the road today.
The win marks the Bald Eagles first of the season as they dominated the match from the opening whistle according to LHU head coach Doug Moore.
Lock Haven struck early, scoring their only goal of the match in the opening minutes of play.
Sophomore Martin Pletz (Pittsburgh/Carlynton) drilled home a header off a cross from senior Paul Huckett (Grimsby, England/Grimbsy College).
Lock Haven had several good chances to add to their lead throughout as the dictated the flow of the match for the entire 90 minutes.
Billy Trimble (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) had another strong outing in net for LHU including a free kick stop late in the second half of play.
Lock Haven also had history on their side today as they downed Alderson 1-0 back in 1998 after they started that season 0-3-1.
The Bald Eagles are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. looking to keep the winning way going when they play host to California (Pa.) University in Lock Haven’s home opener.
