Haven harriers impressive at Slippery Rock
 

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams both turned in a solid outings today at the Pre-National meet hosted by Slippery Rock University, the host institution of the 2008 NCAA Division II National Championships.

The No. 20 Bald Eagles took second overall in the team race behind only UC San Deigo, who is ranked No. 4 in the Western Region.

San Deigo won with 52 points topping the 22-team field.

Lock Haven racked up 69 points and was followed by Wayne State (91).

Leading the way for The Haven men was sophomore Nick Hitlon (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township), who continues to impress. He placed second overall in the individual race with a very impressive 25:22.

Sophomore Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasbury) was Lock Haven’s second man and finished sixth overall with a time of 25:44.

Rookie Mitch Miller (Morrisville, NY/Morrisville-Eaton) was 12th overall with a time of 26:09.

Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) was 18th overall for LHU.

The Lady Eagles took ninth of 29 teams.

Leading the way for the LHU women was freshman Lindsey Lambert (Howell, N.J./Howell), who continued on her way to what is looking to be a very successful rookie season. She took ninth overall with a time of 22:46.

Shala Simms (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) was 23rd with a time of 23:21 and Alyssa Douma (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) finished 40th with a time of 23:48.

Lock Haven is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Penn State National Invitational.
