LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team (0-9, 0-6 PSAC West) fell to visiting Gannon University (4-5, 2-4 PSAC West) 26-0 today at Hubert Jack Stadium in a rain-soaked Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division clash.
Today’s game marked LHU’s 2008 Homecoming game.
The Bald Eagles were only down 6-0 at halftime, as The Haven defense did a solid job holding the Golden Knights to only two field goals.
Gannon however came alive in the second half and went up 13-0 after a Jon Richardson touchdown early in the third quarter. GU’s first drive of the second half was a good one as it marched 65 yards down the field.
Gannon tacked on two TD’s in the final quarter of play to take home the 26-0 victory in division action.
Defensively LHU got a tremendous effort from freshman Skyler Wool (Waterville, Pa./Jersey Shore), who had a game-high seven tackles. All seven of his tackles were solo stops, which included three for a loss. Wool also had one forced one fumble and had a sack.
Joe Sipple (White Haven, Pa./James Coughlin), Shane Barie (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional), Luke Ellison (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) and Andre Morrison (Johnstown, Pa./Johnstown) all had five tackles in the game for LHU.
Jarryd Burkett (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) and Jason Eby (Ulster, Pa./Athens) split time under center for LHU. Burkett got the start and was 5-for-13 passing while Eby went 3-for-9.
Cameron Turner (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) and DeMarr Dowell (Buffalo, N.Y./Erie C.C.) each had three catches.
Reggie Mencer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) led LHU in rushing with 39 yards on 12 carries.
Lock Haven returns to action next Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. when LHU travels to Slippery Rock for PSAC West action.
