MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Playing in the Millersville University Tipoff Classic, the Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (0-1) fell to West Chester University (1-0) 88-71 in the season opener for both teams.

Lock Haven was down 43-31 at half and the Lady Eagles did everything they could in the second to make the comeback, but just couldn’t get it done today.

Leading the way for The Haven was senior guard Marisa Elliot (Hanover, Pa./Hagerstown C.C), who dropped a team-high 18 points. She also pulled down eight rebounds.

Senior Lauren Kelshaw (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly), the team’s returning scoring leader netted 11 points.

Casi Donelan (Fairfax, Va./Goldey-Beacom College) was solid all-around for LHU. She scored seven points, grabbed five boards, dished out a team-high five assists and recorded two steals.

Rookie Peaches Nesmith (Philadelphia/Northeast) was solid her debut with seven points and eight rebounds, five of which came on the defensive side of the ball.

The Lady Eagles get right back to it tomorrow, as they take on MU Tipoff Classic host Millersville at 4 p.m.
