SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s cross country finished in a tie for 19th place at the 2008 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships held today at Cooper’s Lake Campground in Slippery Rock, Pa.
The Bald Eagles, ranked 16th nationally heading into the meet, finished in a tie for 19th place with Stonehill as both squads scored 473 points.
Leading the way for The Haven was sophomore Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasbury), who ran to a 50th-place finish.
Getz, who’s been a leader for the young Bald Eagles all season long capped off a sensational second season with a solid outing this afternoon. He covered the hilly 10K course at Cooper’s Lake in 32:38.
Getz was followed closely by Nick Hilton (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township), as the two sophomores have combined to be a terrific 1-2 punch all Fall long for the crimson and white.
Hilton was 52nd overall with a time of 32:39.
Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan), Brandon Pomerantz (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) and AJ Johnson (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) rounded out Lock Haven’s top five runners.
Yeatts was 111th (33:44) while Pomerantz finished 127th (34:10) and Johnson finished 133rd with a time of 34:28.
Perennial national-powers Adams State and Western State finished 1-2 in the team race with 67 and 88 points, respectively. Chico State rounded out the top-three with 120 points.
