Blessing and Slattery named All-Region

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Lock Haven university women’s soccer team has announced two players were selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA)/adidas All-Atlantic Region team.

Senior midfielder Lindsay Blessing (Fredericksburg, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and sophomore defender Caitlin Slattery (Williamsport, Pa./UMBC) both earned a spot on the Atlantic Region Second Team.

This honor comes after both earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors.

As a senior captain, Belssing gave her team veteran experience by starting in all 19 games. She finished her final campaign with Lock Haven with one goal and three assists.

Blessing capped off her career with a big game against Lake Erie on “Senior Day.” in the Lady Eagles season finale. She scored a brilliant free kick goal and assisted on one other as LHU rolled past the Storm 7-0, capping off a solid season for LHU and head coach Heather Davis.

Slattery, a defensive standout for the Lady Eagles, helped her team secure five shutouts. She also scored two goals throughout the 2008 campaign, including the game-winning goal in the season opener versus Shepherd. She also had one assist during the season.

The Lady Eagles finished the season 9-9-1 overall and 5-8-1 in PSAC West play
