LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sophomore Alaina Leonard (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern), of the Lock Haven University women’s track and field team has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Leonard led the way for The Haven at the Penn State Open, where she hit a NCAA Division II qualifying mark in the weight throw. She took second in the weight throw with a mark of 53-7. Leonard’s mark was a school record and a PSAC qualifying mark.
Leonard also added a PSAC qualifying mark in the shot put (36-4).
Last week Chris Edelman (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and Shala Simms (Ardmore, Pa./Upper Darby)both earned PSAC Track Athletes of the Week, as LHU continues to impress within the conference.
Lock Haven returns to action this Friday, Jan. 23 at Lehigh University. Multis and the 5K are set for Friday with all other events being held on Saturday (Jan. 24) at Lehigh's Covert Classic.
