LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track & field teams were at again with another strong performance at Cornell University’s Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational.

Lock Haven turned in a number of notable performances in its final preparation before next weekend’s Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.

The Lady Eagles crowned two individual champions and the women’s 4x400 meter relay also took home top honors with a time of 4:00.31.

The relay time marks as the third-fastest in school history.

Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) won the high jump and Shala Simms (Ardmore, Pa./Upper Darby) took first in the 800.

Morse won the high jump with a mark of 5-7 and Simms won the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:17.53.

Both times are PSAC qualifying marks.

Alaina Leonard (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) was strong for the Lady Eagles with a good showing the throwing events. She took second in the weight throw with a heave of 51-7.25 and seventh in the shot with a mark of 37-0.25

Freshman Lauren Edelman (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) had strong day with a third and fourth place finish. She was third in the high jump with a mark of 5-3 and fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 35-3.

The Haven men were also represented well.

Leading the way was thrower Randy Sylvia (Johnstown, Pa./Pine Richland), who took third in the weight throw with a mark of 57-8.25. The mark is a PSAC and NCAA qualifier.

Chris Jones (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln) and Ben McConnell (Danville, Pa./Danville) both turned in fourth-place showings.

Jones took fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.05 and McConnell was fourth in the 800 with an impressive time of 1:57.49.

Both the LHU men’s and women’s track & field teams will back in action next weekend at the PSAC Championships. The championship meet will be held at East Stroudsburg University next Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 28 & March 1).
