Bald Eagles top Clarion in PSAC West thriller, Arre nets game-high 28
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (5-21, 3-10 PSAC West) used a strong second-half surge to propel the Bald Eagles to a 72-64 victory over Clarion University (11-15, 2-11 PSAC West) tonight in Thomas Fieldhouse in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division action.

The Bald Eagles had three players score in double figures and were led by senior Billy Arre’s (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) huge performance in the second half.

Arre ignited his team to lead all scorers by hitting all of his game-high 28 points in the second half of play.

Arre’s shooting clicked on all cylinders, as he hit 11-of-17 from the field, including 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. He also had a solid night on the boards by grabbing six of his seven total rebounds on the defensive end.

Junior Warren Christian (Baltimore, Md./ Catonsville C.C.) made his presence felt inside by scoring a double-double for the Bald Eagles. He hit 6-of-9 from the field for 12 points and snagged a game-high 10 rebounds. Christian also had three blocks.

Freshman Eric Brennan (Chester, Pa./West Catholic-Philadelphia) added 12 points, three steals and three assists in the game.

Senior Kelvin McClean (Newport, Va./Heritage) had nine points in the win for Lock Haven.

Clarion had four players score in double figures and the Golden Eagles were led by Josh Yanke and Ron Hollis, as each knocked down 15 points.

The Bald Eagles wrap up their 2008-09 season on Saturday, Feb. 28 when they host Gannon University at 3 p.m. inside Thomas Fieldhouse in PSAC West action.
