HOUSTON – Sophomore Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) of the Lock Haven University swim team earned Honorable Mention All-American status for the second consecutive night at the 2009 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships in Houston, Texas.
Tonight, Terray placed 13th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:04.17.
She reached the finals after swimming 2:04.40 in today’s morning-prelims.
LHU head coach Andy Waeger was extremely pleased with the efforts of Terray throughout the meet and is looking forward to her building on this success next year.
Yesterday, Terray placed 13th overall in the 100 backstroke, earning Honorable Mention All-American status.
Terray was 13th overall in the consolation finals with a school record time of 57.09.
Her time was also faster than her mark at last year’s National Championships that put her sixth overall, which credits how deep and fast the field is at this year’s championship.
Terray qualified for the 100 backstroke consolation finals after a 13th place in Friday morning’s prelims. She swam 57.16.
On Wednesday, Terray opened her second National Championship meet with a 50th place finish in the 50 freestyle. She swam 24.51.
