HOUSTON – The Lock Haven University track & field team wrapped up competition today the 2009 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Houston, Texas in sensational fashion.
Lock Haven crowned four All-Americans last night and The Haven picked up five more All-American honors today in the Lone Star state.
The nine All-Americans are the most ever for Lock Haven at any National Championship track meet.
Senior Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) earned All-American status after taking third in the women’s high jump with a season-best mark of 5-8.50.
The Bald Eagles 4x400 meter relay team of Chris Edelman (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), Ben McConnell (Danville, Pa./Danville), Kevin Moore (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley) and Steve Roberts (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) placed eighth overall with a time of 3:23.18. The eighth-place finish propelled the foursome to All-American status.
Edelman was 10th in the 400 meter dash earlier in the day with a time of 49.71.
Last night The Haven men’s distance medley relay place sixth overall as the Bald Eagles earned All-American status.
The Haven foursome of Nathan Zondlo (Avoca, Pa./Pittston Area), Chris Jones (Jersey City, N.J./Lincoln), Nick Hilton (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) and McConnell teamed up to take home All-American honors in the DMR for LHU.
LHU co-head coach Aaron Russell was very pleased with the performance of this team in Houston and was proud of everyone who competed the last two days.
