LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Little League Baseball and Softball, along with Lock Haven University will team up Saturday, March 28 to welcome Little League Softball players to “Little League Softball Day.”

On Saturday at 1 p.m. the No. 9 Lady Eagles will host Mercyhurst in doubleheader softball action at Lawerence Field.

Little Leaguers, their parents and local league volunteers are encouraged to attend the games. The players are encouraged to come dressed in their Little League uniform jerseys and following the games will be permitted on to the field to meet the collegiate players and coaches.

“As a way of recognizing Little League Softball and in appreciation of the college softball experience, Little League International is reaching out to communities by having Little League Softball Days,” Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little League Baseball and Softball, said. “For the fourth straight year, this initiative will afford young athletes of all ages the chance to enjoy the game of softball at its finest. They will have the complete game experience from the warm-ups to game’s end.”

Colleges and universities throughout the United States, including the University of Washington; the University of Pennsylvania; the University of Arizona; Baylor University in Waco, Texas; and the University of Michigan, have hosted similar events in recent years.
