Edelman and Morse earn PSAC Track & Field Weekly awards

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior Chris Edelman (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) and senior Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell-Savona) of the Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track & field team have picked up weekly honors from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

Edelman was named PSAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Morse picked up PSAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.

Edelman led the Bald Eagles to a team title at the PSAC West Challenge, hosted by California (Pa.) University over the weekend. He turned in a pair of individual victories, while also competing on Lock Haven’s winning 4x400 meter relay team.

Edelman won the 200 meter dash (21.83) and the 400 meter dash (47.81), as he turned in sensational early season times in both events.

His time in the 400 was a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark.

Morse, the 2009 PSAC Indoor Female Field Athlete of the Year was one of seven Lady Eagle individual champions at the PSAC West Challenge.

The Lady Eagles won the team title and were led by Morse’s win in the high jump. She won with a mark of 5’8”, which is currently the top mark in the conference.

Morse also placed second in the long jump.

Both the Bald and Lady Eagles return to action this weekend at Bucknell.
